Will Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Get a Season 3? Answered
Currently, there hasn’t been an official announcement that Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is getting a third season. However, this doesn’t mean there is no chance of a third season whatsoever. First and foremost, it has only been a year since the second season was released. Following the conclusion of the anime’s first season, there was a four year break before the second season began streaming. Several factors could have contributed to this lapse in output, but overall it was in line with a typical gap between producing full seasons of an anime that isn’t strictly Shonen. With this in mind, Kyoto Animation, the studio behind the show, is likely taking some time away from the series to prepare for the next cour. This in turn would also be beneficial for gaining more source material to work with. The Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga is still ongoing to this day, and releases on a monthly schedule. As such, it takes longer for the series to build up chapters than a weekly-release manga would, slowing down the rate at which adaptation material can be created for the anime. On top of all this, the series is still plenty popular among both anime and manga fans. As such, there’s a very low chance of Kyoto Animation passing up on making a new season of the show indefinitely. With all this in mind, we’ll likely get an official announcement sometime in the next few years. Once one is made, we’ll update this guide accordingly.
