Project Sirius Witcher Game Explained

While the rest of the projects announced earlier this month by CDPR are in-house and developed by the studio itself, Project Sirius isn’t. Instead, it’s being handled by The Molasses Flood, the studio behind The Flame in the Flood, an acclaimed survival game. So far, details about its design, gameplay, and story premise are few and far between. All we have to go on is what the company has so far described during the aforementioned announcement. Project Sirius is described as “an innovative take on The Witcher universe” that is set to tell an “unforgettable story.” Given what we know about The Molasses Flood’s background in survival games, it’s highly likely Projekt Sirius will feature some sort of survival component. We also know for certain that it will include multiplayer gameplay in addition to the single-player experience. Of course, The Witcher has in the past branched out to multiplayer gameplay with its Gwent spin-off, but it’s unlikely Project Sirius is a mini-game-type experience. If we had to guess, we think Project Sirius could be something similar to Drake Hollow, The Molasses Flood’s other notable hit, which launched in 2020. As described in Drake Hollow’s official synopsis, the challenges you to “Explore a blighted world with your friends. Gather supplies, battle savage creatures, and build villages to protect the local innocent vegetable folks known as Drakes.” That very much sounds like a gameplay loop that would suit The Witcher universe. Could you imagine life as a farmer, gathering resources and building villages in a bid for survival against monsters, bandits, and foreign armies plundering your lands? Pay a tribune to local forces for protection, or pay a passing Witcher to solve troublesome monster woes as the story of your settlement and its inhabitants unfolds? Sounds like the sort of story-driven farming-survival-RTS experience with multiplayer potential that we could totally get behind! Now, keep in mind we’re just speculating here. We could be totally on the wrong track in our thinking, and we won’t know anything official until CD Projekt Red is ready to reveal the Sirius further — which could be some time from now, given it’s still in pre-production. Until that time, that’s everything you need to know about what Project Sirius Is, the newly announced Witcher game.
