How Well Does Elden Ring Run on PS4?
Thankfully, the PS4 version of Elden Ring runs surprisingly smoothly. While you won’t get the same level of fidelity, frame-rate, and draw distance as its PS5 brethren, it does deliver a very playable experience overall. Specifically, the PS4 iteration of Elden Ring targets 30fps, though it does occasionally dip below that when the going gets tough and there are lots of enemies on-screen. Resolution-wise, you’re looking at a solid 1080p, which is pretty standard for Sony’s last-gen system.

Much like its baseline counterpart, the PS4 Pro runs Elden Ring quite well. The main difference is that the PS4 Pro benefits from a boost in its resolution and frame-rate thanks to its more powerful GPU and CPU. Performance-wise, the PS4 Pro’s frame-rate is unlocked, though it doesn’t quite hit a stable 60fps. In fact, the PS4 Pro version of Elden Ring sits more in the 30-50fps range depending on what’s happening on-screen. From a visual perspective, the PS4 Pro runs Elden Ring at 1800p using Sony’s checkerboard rendering technique. Of course, it’s worth noting that you won’t get the handy benefit of super-fast load times from either of these Sony machines, as that’s a PS5 exclusive feature. In other words, you’ll have to make do with pretty long waits when you inevitably die from being squished by Elden Ring’s plethora of dastardly monstrosities. So, there you have it.
